British mission eases visa conditions for Tanzanians

BY CORRESPONDENT DAVID

The British High Commission to Tanzania has announced a new priority ‘fast-track’ visa service as an option to ease visa access for Tanzanians.

Speaking to members of the press at the official launch of the Priority Visa Service at the British High Commission yesterday in Dar es Salaam, the High Commissioner Dianna Melrose said that the Commission has introduced the service as one of its initiatives to strengthen diplomatic relationships between the two countries.

The Commissioner explained that her country would like to see a two way traffic between the United Kingdom and Tanzania. To do that they have introduced the fast track service, this will ease the obtaining of a visa to the UK for a maximum of five working days.

She noted that the available visas falls under the categories of business visas, student visas and visit visas in which an applicant is required to pay an additional fee of 250,000/- for his/her application to be processed ahead of others.

“The service has been launched as a response to our clients’ demand, it will help us achieve the objectives of our new UK/Tanzania prosperity partnership to increase trade and investment, support Tanzania’s development and generate prosperity and employment for both Tanzania and UK,” she said.

However, she made it clear that with this service, the normal immigration rules still apply.
